KINAN SPA

Kinan is the Mayan word for the healing energy of the sun. Similar to the Asian concept of Chi, Kinan is also used to refer to an individual’s energy.  Our mission is to help you transform and unlock your inner energy and spirit.

Opened in January of 2005, Kinan Spa is a healing sanctuary that offers a full range of services in unique environments ranging from ultimate luxury couple suites to open-air massage palapas. Do yoga on our roof top palapa and experience the 360 degree view of Maroma’s duel ecosystems.

Handcrafted by the same family of Mayan stonemasons that have been lovingly creating Maroma for over three decades, the 7000 square foot Kinan Spa was designed based on Maya Sacred Geometry.  These principles of astrological alignment, ratios and energy channels give Kinan Spa its spiritual essence. 

Each building, treatment room and waterfall has been aligned to the stars to ensure positive energy flow so the body, mind and spirit are in harmony.  The treatment rooms point directly east to west representing the balance of the day and night. The massage beds are placed so guests’ heads are at the west looking towards the east - representing new beginnings; and the relaxation room is pointing north - representing earth and grounding. 

Many of the treatments offered at Kinan are based on ancient Mayan healing.  Some of the services will not be found any where else in this world.

• Flore de vita (Flower of Life) pool located in front of the floatarium building.  The flower of life symbol is incorporated into the design of the pool and is considered sacred among many cultures around the world, both ancient and modern.  Within this symbol can be found all the building blocks of the universe and the symbol is often used as a metaphor for the connectedness of all life and spirit within the universe.
• Wellness centre located in the adjacent Aquarius area of the resort offers cardio machines as well as free-weights, and spinning classes.  A personal trainer is available for appointments.

Opening Hours

Spa: Monday-Sunday 9.15 A.M. - 8.00 P.M. 

Before Your Treatment: Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to take a shower, enjoy our Steam, Sauna and Plunge pool area. This will help you to relax and be ready for your treatment.  Please wear your bathing suit with your kaftan.

Fitness Center: Monday-Sunday 6.00 A.M. - 10.00 P.M.

Spa Boutique: Monday-Sunday 8:00 A.M. - 9:00 P.M.

To continue your experience at home, we have Spa products used in treatments available in our boutique.

Extended hours available by special appointment, extra fees incurred.

Spa Cuisine
Our Spa Restaurant Cilantro is situated just outside of Kinan Spa and offers healthy and delicious breakfast and lunch daily.

We highly recommend booking your treatments in advance to ensure your preferred time and service are available.

Cancellation Policy
Please allow 24 hours notice of cancellation to avoid a 100% charge.  

Service Charge and Tax
A 15% service charge and tax will be added to your final bill for each service.

Loss or Damage
We regret that we cannot be responsible for any loss or damage of personal articles.  Please keep all valuables in your safe in your room during your visit.  For protection of your clothing we ask that you come to the spa in your Kaftan.

Please advise us of any health conditions, allergies, or injuries, which could affect your service when making your spa reservation.
